Reading Motivation for High School Students

Generally, during the sixth grade year students transition from readers to non-readers. Textbooks get larger. Classes get more demanding including more homework. Extra curricular activities also get more serious. What can be done to motivate students to continue to read for personal interest during the middle school and high school years?
